For the first time in a long time, I wrote gen.
It was intended to be slash, but it's gen.
Title: Circumstances
Author:
valmora
Rating: PG
Fandom: The Great Escape, the movie
Pairing: gennish; Ramsey and von Luger sort-of-friendness
Disclaimer: Do I look like a WWII vet or an MGM/UA official to you? No? Still not mine, then.
Notes: Ramsey's first name is Rupert, and this is a real drabble if hyphens make things one word.
There is something in the way von Luger treats him, as though in another time and with different nationalities, they would have been friends.
Instead, they are only wary enemies with no real hatred for each other, knowing that they cannot do more than feel mutual respect and not make each others' lives too unpleasant.
Rupert has no intention of making von Luger's job easy, however, and Big X is the center of that.
So he holds his silence and makes no promises to the Kommandant about escape attempts, but neither is he less than polite. Friends-who-would-have-been will do that.
