Title: Something Old
Author:
valmora
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: tGE AU
Pairing: Roger Bartlett, Sandy MacDonald pre-slash.
Disclaimer: Not mine; all to MGM/UA, except for the AU-ness.
Notes: First of the "wedding rhyme" friendly drabbles (they're not "companions"). The rhyme is this one:
Something old,
something new,
something borrowed,
something blue.
I was bored.
Roger's girlfriends always seem to object to Sandy. It baffles Roger, really, because if anything, he'd think they'd like him even more than they used to, but women are crazy anyway.
They were talking about nothing much at all once and Roger brought it up and Sandy just stared at him like what Roger'd said was completely earth-shattering, something in his expression that made Roger nervous and itchy.
"They. Hate. Me. Because. I. Hate. Them," Sandy said finally, and turned back to his assignment for journalism class.
Sandy doesn't like girls. Not just, he doesn't like girls, but he doesn't like girls. Which is a little weird in Roger's opinion, because, well, Roger does like girls, but he figures that it's different for Sandy and doesn't question it. Doesn't question anything about Sandy, really, because they've known each other so long that Roger'd trust Sandy with his life.
Would trust Sandy with his secrets if he had any, because even though everyone knows Sandy can't be trusted with information you don't want spread throughout the school, Sandy's never breathed a word of anything Roger's asked him not to tell, and they've been friends for years.
That doesn't mean that Sandy's never told any secrets, though. He tells his own, sometimes, like the really big one, the one that shows when he looks at guys just that second too long, too intensely. Roger pretends not to notice those moments, like Sandy pretends not to notice Roger's girlfriends, and their friendship works just fine.
