Aye, and what'll you be wanting then? A trade? Hendley, it's no little work for a distilling - it can be taught well enough, but won't taste the same, and pocheen is like as not to make ye' blind as drunk. Have it anyway? An' it's your own blood you poison.
Is he gone, then, Lafferty? Yes?

Christopher Donnell
In the afterlight-gleam of the bombs, it is easy to forget the sins of England when the sins of the Nazis are so much greater, when the bombs leave trails of the dead and dying across all of Britain.
Christopher does not forget, but he has put away his people's hatred, his own rage at the suppression of Eire, in favor of the knowledge that his homeland will have far greater worries than Protestants should the Nazis take England.
And the understanding that the goons, faces pale and uniforms crisp, are merely men as much as he is hardly a deterrent. Even the damned bleed red.
