So Renji's jealous of Rukia because she's gotten all the luck, because she's been adopted by a noble family. He's not gonna argue with that; she may be short but she's good (Better than me and I hate it, whispers his inner voice).
He knows that's why he’s angry, that she has succeeded and left him behind in the dust when he thought they were friends who would stick together, even after Rukongai.
Then why can't he get Lord Byakuya's silhouette out of his thoughts – neither that nor the jealousy that Rukia will know him, when Renji is only scum?
