[Bleach] Screencap (Ichishi)
Aug. 25th, 2006 11:18 pmTitle: Screencap
Rating: PG
Fandom: Bleach
Pairing: Kurosaki Ichigo/Ishida Uryuu
Disclaimer: These characters do not belong to me; they belong to Kubo Tite and everyone to whom he has licensed any facet of "Bleach." The situation, however, is not one owned by Kubo Tite and should not be construed as a reflection of future aspects of the work or as impinging upon the right of the author/artist to "Bleach".
Notes: Because Ishida damn well shouldn't refer to himself as "Ishida" in his own head, and I'm just so damn sick of it.
Summary: Uryuu sees Kurosaki, and this would be picture-perfect if it weren't what it is.
Uryuu turns, stills. Feels the rich-red silk of the boy's energy brushing over his skin, their shoulders touching only for a moment as they pass in the hall, and this would be a great movie shot if there were a movie made of his life. Cue: Uryuu, standing still, in the hall of Karakura high school, half-turned backwards, standing in the middle of the two directions of busy hall-traffic, looking at Kurosaki's retreating back, the line from himself to Kurosaki empty of people, as though the unenlightened masses can sense the line of his gaze.
If the sun were setting, it might even be a better frame, but that's far too much like a scene from a classic romance movie for Uryuu's taste. He'll stick with midday, and he the only still one in the hall, and people brushing up against each other all the time as they go in opposite directions. There's nothing special about this moment except that he is looking at Kurosaki Ichigo and Kurosaki Ichigo, just like all the times before that they've accidentally touched, has utterly failed to notice him walking by.
Uryuu thinks that either Kurosaki is incredibly clueless or he's incredibly subtle, and judging by the way the boy kicks anything that annoys him and can't control his reiatsu, he's just clueless. Like all the rest of the Shinigami that Uryuu has had the joy of failing to meet. And Kurosaki is definitely a hack-and-slash kind of boy, all sinew and strength in a way that Uryuu will never be; Uryuu was built on the wrong lines, fragile and soft-edged but sharper in the mind than Kurosaki probably will ever be to make up for it.
Besides, the Quincy are only a little more than human. They weren't dead, so they had a reason to breed for intelligence and survival skills, rather than hollow-skulled stubbornness, which is usually a byproduct of enough raw power to generate things like cleavers as swords. So this is probably why Uryuu senses Kurosaki as a blazing siren of power in the middle of an amphitheatre and why Kurosaki senses nothing of him. And that's why Uryuu is staring at him all the time - trying to drive it into Kurosaki's head that the reiatsu levels need to get controlled, just through glaring. That Uryuu keeps looking afterwards is just because Kurosaki's so powerful it draws attention to his physical body.
Uryuu doesn't feel attraction to idiots. This would be stupid and bad breeding on the part of his forefathers, and stupidity is something the Quincy don't allow. This is why when Kurosaki fails to notice him, Uryuu takes it as an indication of just how moronic Kurosaki is, rather than feeling hurt that Kurosaki - insensitive, violent boor that he is - hasn't noticed Uryuu when all Uryuu can notice is him.
