Disclaimer: So not mine. And I think James Coburn and David McCallum would have my hide for this if they knew.
Warnings: Strong suggestion of sex, not-really-angst.
Notes: This was kind of inspired by a very old challenge on
skycaptainslash to include the line, “Lie back and think of England.” I included it, sort of, but I don’t think this was what they had in mind. It wasn’t what I had in mind either, but Eric Lt. Cmdr. Ashley-Pitt had other ideas.
Eric wonders how it’s possible that nobody’s found them, because the fire underneath his skin feels like it’s lighting up everything around him. Wonders how it’s possible that no one has heard them, because his pulse is the sound of bombs in his ears and is surely just that loud to anyone who might be anywhere near him. Wonders how no one can hear the swell of the sea, because he can feel it, in the slow slide of his skin against Louis’s, in the way they move against each other, a slow rocking motion like the sway of a ship in the water.
He imagines, in these moments, that he is not grounded in Germany, trapped in a camp surrounded by barbed wire and machine guns. Imagines that he is between missions, expecting to feel the stuffy pressure of flying tomorrow, expecting to wake to the feel of a ship rolling beneath his back. Imagines that he is home.
He thinks of England, while he lies there, and wonders if Louis, in his own thoughts, is across two oceans and in Australia.
