Draco apologizes, one day. He explains that he was unreasonably hurt by Harry's rejection, that his jealousy of Ron Weasley led him to do some very foolish things, that he regrets all of the things he's done to Harry in the past.

"All of them?" Harry asks, somewhat disbelieving, but trusting him all the same.

"Well, no. Not all of them," Draco admits with a smirk, before sucker-punching him and breaking his nose. "I didn't regret doing that the first time, and I don't regret it now. And it's for me this time, you sonofabitch, because you ruined my future."

Voldemort was going to kill Harry after the Death Eaters' victory. He was meant to be a symbol of the futility of resistance, and would have publicly suffered until he died.

Draco bargained for Harry's life and succeeded, but on the condition that Harry would always be under a spell to keep him docile enough to not resist either Voldemort's power over the Wizarding world or Draco's advances, the latter measure of which had been intended to hold Draco's loyalty as much as Harry's attention.

And Draco wondered, later, why this new Harry wasn't as alluring as the old one.
