[tGE] In Peace (Ramsey gen)
Nov. 29th, 2005 10:03 pmOMGliekwhoah! Angstttt! ::giggle::
That bit of annoyance over and done with,
Title: In Peace
Rating: PG
Fandom: tGE
Pairing: Ramsey POV, gen
Disclaimer: The Great Escape and all associated intellectual property belongs to Paul Brickhill and MGM/UA, not to me.
Six months - a year - two years - past the German surrender, and Rupert still wakes with the memory of blazing guns and the vertigo of piloting burning in his thoughts. It is hardly pleasant, but the memory of crashing, shot down, is less frequent now than the memory of reading a list before the assembled men, von Luger at a window to hear him read the fifty names aloud, the both of them grieved. He remembers because now that the war is over, he can say that, once, he would have traded his name's place on the lists of the released to have kept the fifty from the lists of the dead, but perhaps it is best to leave the dead to rest.

Is that like his canon first name?
Indeed. I don't remember where/if it's stated in the movie, but I know it's in the credits, along with the first or surnames of various other characters (e.g. Willie's surname, which is 'Dickes'. No, I'm NOT JOKING.)

I am so not coherent. Sorry.

It's okay. I'm not so coherent myself.
