Sousuke wants to wipe the smile from Gin's face so he can see his eyes.

He knows, of course, that albinos are bad luck, and he respects someone - he does not know who - for saving a young Ichimaru from return to the human world. Without that person, it is difficult to say if Sousuke would have found another supporter who was quite as competent and useful.

But more than that, Sousuke wants to see his eyes. See if they are really garnet-red, the color of luck and fire - for Ichimaru must be lucky to have survived so long when the color of his skin and hair gives him away as the worst luck of all - but Gin will not show him. He squints out at the world past a smile that Sousuke knows is fake, and will not open them, not for anyone.

Not for love, not for sex, not for Sousuke. And if Sousuke could feel anger over it, perhaps he would demand it, but he does not.

So instead he mimicks the color he suspects they are, brushing inked fingertips over Gin's closed eyelids, for what is red if not blood?

Aizen: I was worried I hadn't had the pleasure of traumatizing Hitsugaya-kun for nothing. ♥ However, she didn't appear to be interested. Ah, well. I'm sure we can entertain ourselves.

(oh, randomness, but - you know the scene at the meeting in volume ten - the last couple of pages of chapter 82) where Ichimaru is saying he has no excuse for going after the ryoka kid, and afterwards, Aizen gets his attention by saying his name? In the fantranslation I have, he says 'Ichimaru'; in the official, he says "Gin", and the impression I get is very different depending on which one he uses. XD I'm such an obsessive hardcore slasher.)

(*notes Gin's slip of the tongue above* ...and hee, yups, I know where you're talking about *remembers cute!Gin* and I wish the fantranslation said Gin, seeing as Aizen usually is very informal with Gin, regardless of public situation. The only time he's not.. well.. I can't think of one :P)

(EE that Freudian slip is so cute! It has been noted and logged. See, I'm not sure if the scanlation is literal - as in, he actually said ICHIMARU, or if the translator was just being annoying and he really said GIN. Because the potential.... *shivers with delight* I feel like I'm debating Biblical translations! Only with much more enthusiasm!)

(the thing is, the official versions also took out the honorifics that the scanlations generally leave in, so I'm not sure. Also, it is agreed that slash is MUCH more fun than Biblical translations)

Oh, and I'm curious to your opinion on this...

As we pointed out here, Aizen notes that Gin cares about him. If Gin ever cracked out of frustration/desperation/whatever-ation there is that could cause that, and just happened to spill it all and admit it to his face intentionally... what's your take on Aizen's reaction?

I'm torn between uncaring/unemotional!Aizen feeling satisfied that he's manipulated Gin to such a point and able to make him feel in such a way (or think he's made him feel that way, as Gin obviously adores Aizen with his own initiative)... and between the fact Gin was and still is his only friend, period.

Aizen's reaction to something like this would be so tricky to write, I think... Because Gin will just burst out randomly and admit his emotions if he feels the need. Aizen, like you've noted, is far less honest/blunt. And I'm not sure on which level he actually likes Gin on... Or what level we'd like to portray. ;P

Personally, the "most-canon" version of my Aizen would *pretend* some emotion and actually merely see it as another way to exploit Gin. Because I can do uncaring bitch like that.

And the outer reaction would depend on the depth of their relationship. For example, if it's, say, Hitsugaya-traumatising!Gin, then I think Aizen would soften the edges of his "nice" persona and seem much more loving. However, if we're talking bloodmakeup!Aizen, then I'd be more inclined to have his outer reaction even be hostile, or at least draw away.

And whether or not Aizen really loves him or just *thinks* he loves him is entirely debatable, also. Since we're not entirely certain of the depth to which Aizen feels emotions.

And um, I'm not entirely certain that evil!Aizen really has friends. I think he has pawns. =(

Agreed on all points except this--and maybe it's my inner fangirl wanting it not to be true so badly, but I can't help but notice that Aizen lets Gin get away with much more than the rest of his badass company. For example, Gin messes up, a lot, in regards to keeping Ichigo/Renji out of the way when dealing with Rukia, and in regards to when all of Soul Society spring upon them and attempt to catch them. Gin even apologizes for his carelesseness then, and Aizen brushes it off.

In chapter 214 (which I will be uploading for you along with the rest tonight <3), it sort of strengthens the idea that Gin and Aizen are rather closer than a superior/subordinate type of relationship. Gin can tease him about things that are too serious and Aizen just laughs and lets him get away with it. Maybe they aren't outright friends, but I highly doubt that Gin is only Aizen's pawn--I personally think Aizen holds him at least a little higher regard than that.

And whether or not Aizen really loves him or just *thinks* he loves him is entirely debatable, also. Since we're not entirely certain of the depth to which Aizen feels emotions.

But it's also why I don't mind playing him. I mean, if you notice, our RP's right now have three different Aizens; maybe even four if I decide to make smoulder!Aizen the "photo negative" Aizen. Having that much psychological-interpretation leeway makes me happy.
