Shunsui fears the day that Jyuushirou's heart beats for the final time, when he is lost to Shunsui and his soul goes back to Earth.
He fears it because then he will lose his anchor, because his serious side will have only Nanao-chan to express it (who is a lovely woman, as he tells her often, but she is hardly his lover, nor as good a friend as Jyuushirou, and plays the role with as little grace as he himself might), and that gives him no pleasure, binding the ever-impending wound only with severity and not with power, not with love.
Sometimes, at his drunkest, he wishes Nanao-chan were the sick one, not Jyuushirou, for then - because then, afterwards, he would be able to heal.
