SO. SICK. OF. LONG. NAMES. So to that end, from now on, all captains are represented in subject headers by their divisions,
current or former, and if they're not captains, I DON'T CARE. I'll put their full names in the fic header, though.
Title: A Delayed Experiment (bad title eh?)
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Oh, I don't know. It starts with 'b' and ends with an exclamation point when I say it out loud, and it certainly isn't
"Bastard!" Bleach, duh.
Pairings: Kyouraku Shunsui+Ukitake Jyuushirou; Urahara Kisuke/Ukitake Jyuushirou
Disclaimer: There is no way in existence I could possibly ever own these guys.
Spoilers: pre-series, so minor Urahara-spoilers.
Notes: More stuff thrust upon me by
yuusei_enigma. I don't refer to her as 'my enabler' for nothing, you know. ^_~
Summary: Shunsui lost. 247 words.
By the time Shunsui had made up his mind to try, he'd already lost. He'd decided he wasn't going to let anything stop him from winning Jyuushirou's heart - he'd been reading far too many bodice-rippers that month, looking for advice on how to charm a woman; while no more enlightened on how to charm Jyuushirou in particular, he was now well-versed in the language of melodrama - and went to bother Jyuushirou in his usual haunt in the gardens. Found Kisuke there too, lips on Jyuushirou's cheek and hands in places Shunsui didn't even want to think about them touching because the moment he did it was like the feeling of knowing Jyuushirou's sword was just like his all over again. In reverse.
They didn't notice him, too wrapped up in each other, and maybe he stood there for a while staring or maybe he just fled, a coward's way out of the fight. He would have been ashamed, but he didn't particularly want to kill Kisuke, or be killed by him, over something as trivial and as devastating as affection for Ukitake Jyuushirou.
And Shunsui is very good at acting, was a good liar as a child and still is. It is, despite what they say, easy to hide jealousy, given a little practice, and Shunsui has had lots.
So when Kisuke leaves, it is all Shunsui can do to stop himself from hoping that maybe this time around he'll be the one who wins.
