Title: Make New Friends
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Bleach
Pairing: Yoruichi/Soi Fong
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Notes: For
otoselkie, because of the Yoruichi&Soi Fong slashy pics.
Spoilers: For Yoruichi and Urahara's backstories.
Summary: Soi Fong contemplates Urahara. And why she might be able to like him.
Soi Fong is not sure whether to be jealous of Urahara-taichou or not; after all, he and Yoruichi often drink together, play cards, perhaps have sex. He is kind, but lazy and selfish, and Soi Fong does not think that he is a good friend for her captain, though it's not her place to say such a thing. She keeps quiet, because Yoruichi, her role model, must see something in Urahara-taichou that is not immediately obvious.
She is unable to find it, especially after Yoruichi, after hours, beats her in a shunpo match and they end pressed cheek-to-cheek, her small body under Yoruichi's, heated and warm. Yoruichi, sheened with sweat and a little out of breath, laughs and says, "Stop being so jealous, Soi Fong," kissing her.
It rules out the sex but fails to explain anything else of what makes Urahara-taichou so appealing. Soi Fong thinks that he is a degenerate, but maybe, with Yoruichi holding her hand and telling her that Kisuke's a friend and nothing more, she can learn to accept him.

Date: 2006-04-29 05:09 am (UTC)I agree with you; I don't think that's really possible. I mean, if they were close enough that she followed him into the human world, then obviously they're pretty darn close, and anyone who gets that close to her is going to be inextricable from her confidences. And I kind of wonder if Soi Fong might feel bad because she had been friends with them both at some point but learned to hate them because they left her behind? I'm not sure; I just came up with this plotbunny now. Who knows!

There's a certain amount of guesswork
I really think this is true of all the ships in Bleach, except maybe for Byakuya/Hisana and anything involving Ichigo (who's the main character, so it doesn't quite count). I think that it's partially because the series hasn't been completed and also partially because KT doesn't spend a lot of time filling in background details and lets relationships, friend or whatever, speak for themselves for the most part.
