So my job currently involves my researching oil import and export data for as many nations as possible. This may have had an effect on my writing.

Title: crude policy
Rating: light R
Fandom: Hetalia
Characters: Canada/America
Disclaimer: characters belong to the author of Hetalia, Himaruya Hidekaz, not to me. This was just for fun (and a little political commentary).
Time period: post-Gulf War I (the specific exportation figure is from 2006).

Summary: There is power in having what someone else wants.

The thing about superpowers - or any world powers, really - is that they need oil. In America's case, a lot of it. And he's wiling to pay for it, not just in money but in blood (and how sweet it was to feel that power, when America went into Kuwait and depended on Canada's steadiness all the more, pleading Don't leave, I need this, don't ever cut me off - ).

Canada won't make any promises to America, because he's a sovereign nation and who he sells his oil to is his own business. But there are few nations besides China who could both want and pay for 650 million barrels of it a year, and only America - America, who loves oil so much he goes to war for it - will get on his knees in front of Canada and swallow his cock to get it and ensure he'll get more. It's one of the few times America doesn't act like he owns the world, because Canada owns his steadiest supply of oil, and because of it might as well own him.
